Surkuli Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Altun Mtns. The Surkuli Gr was named by Li Tiande et al. in 1991 and formally published by Liao Changquan 1993. The typical section is situated in the south slope of the Altun Mountain in the boundary of Qinghai Province and Xinjiang Weiwuerzhu Zizhiqu (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region).

Lithology and Thickness
The Surkuli Gr is a suite of crystalline schist and marble, dominated by white gray thick-bedded marble and calcareous schist, slate, phyllite and biotite-quartz schist. It is more than 1850 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It overlies unconformably the underlying Taxidaban Gr (Jixian System).
Upper contact
It is unconformably overlain by the Ordovician Elantag Fm
Regional extent
Altun Mtns. The Surkuli Group is mainly distributed in the south slope of the Altun Mountain (in Bashikaogong, Lapeiquan, Kumutashilik and Nurbak) in Xinjiang.
